Sabbath Devotional :: How to Move a Mountain

This week we are blessed with a special musical devotional from Cherie Call (see video above). Cherie’s song, “How to Move a Mountain,” is a favorite of mine. I first heard it several years ago during an especially difficult time in my life. The message resonated deeply with me then and has stayed with me. I believe the message is especially relevant to each of us right now: in the work we are doing in MWEG, in the broad challenges we face as society, and in the very personal mountains that we each face in our individual lives.

A note from Cherie:

After the 2016 election I was worried for America. I felt so overwhelmed and helpless to save the America I love. As some weeks went by, a friend told me about MWEG. It was one of the first things that helped me feel some hope. The problems in America seem so big, and I often feel like I can’t fix it all, or fix anything – that I just have to watch it all happen. Thanks to this courageous group of women, I have developed some strength and hope. I’ve written and called my representatives. I’ve felt like I’m not alone when I try to be a force for good in the posts I make on social media about politics. I feel a sisterhood as I support others posting and trying to help. Moving a mountain is hard to do and takes more than just faith. It takes work; a lot of little efforts added together. The actions of so many great women are each like steps as we climb a mountain. I feel less overwhelmed each day when I can “run with patience” as Paul described in Hebrews 12:1, to do a little bit of good that I can. We move mountains together when we are not alone.
